Marta Gomez Frey, Director, Collin Small Business Development Center (Collin SBDC), will be the expert speaker at the September 24, Wednesday morning meeting of the St. Jude Career Alliance Ministry in Allen, TX.  Mr. Frey's September 24 presentation will provide guidelines for being one's own boss.

 

The Collin SBDC in Plano, TX is a grant-funded program that provides free consulting and training to small business owners and entrepreneurs in Collin and Rockwall counties.  Funding is provide by the U.S. Small Business Administration, State of Texas and Collin College. 

 

As Collin SBDC Director, Mr. Frey leads a team of consultants in the execution of a $400,000 grant program.  She and her team help create and implement programs designed to increase economic impact within the Collin and Rockwall county business communities.  These management consulting programs include financial analysis, marketing strategy assessment, business development, and capitol expansion planning.

 

A graduate of Texas A&M, Ms. Frey began her small business development and management consulting career with Hector Gomez Engineers, Inc., her family's engineering design firm.  Ms. Frey's work with the family business led her to volunteer with various small business and minority business organizations.  These experiences brought her to the Collin SBDC, where she started as a part-time consultant in 2000.  In 2002, Ms. Frey joined Southern Methodist University's Cox School of Business as assistant director of the Caruth Institute for Entrepreneurship, continuing her role of consulting new and growing businesses in North Texas.  While at SMU, Ms. Frey also developed and enhanced education and recognition programs dedicated to small business owners.  She returned to the Collin SBDC in 2006 as interim director and she was named director in 2007.

 

The St. Jude Career Alliance is a ministry helping job seekers that meets from 09:00-10:30 AM every Wednesday at St. Jude Parish in Allen, TX. Everyone is welcome and there is no charge.


St. Jude Catholic Church is located at 1515 North Greenville Avenue, between Exchange Parkway and Stacy Road.  Attendees should park in the northeast lot and use the entrance closest to the three flag poles.

 

In addition to speakers and presentations at Wednesday morning meetings and Saturday morning seminars, the St. Jude Career Alliance Ministry offers training in job search skills, support groups and job hunting resources.
