Three Benefits Of Pushups

Let’s face it, not everyone is going to spring for a gym membership and/or an expensive home weight set. Luckily, there are many exercises that can be done that do not require any weights or equipment.  One of the best exercises that we can do are push-ups.  They do not require any heavy lifting or any money.  Let's briefly go over the benefits of push ups.

1. Location:  Push-ups can be done just about anywhere.  At home, at the office, in a hotel room, on the beach...anywhere!  That takes out about every excuse anyone can could have when it comes to getting in a quick workout on the go.

2. Amount of body parts covered:  Push-ups are about the closest thing to a full body workout as you can get!  Push-ups, with correct form, will help you sculpt your biceps, triceps, chest, shoulders, back and abs/core.  That's pretty efficient for just one exercise!

One more benefit of push-ups are the different variations that you can do.  This way you "confuse" your muscles so they don't get accustomed to the same routine.  The same exercise done in slightly different ways will help you avoid the dreaded plateau.  Pushups offer many variations such as military, incline, decline, one armed, jack, and wide.  DVD programs like Insanity and P90X are great for showing the proper form for each style of push-up.  It doesn’t hurt that Tony Horton and Shaun T are great at keeping us motivated!

There are so many types of push-ups that I may even be missing a few! Are there anymore that you can think of?

Sometimes we just want a good workout without all of the fuss of dealing with a bunch of weights and equipments. In these times, knock out some pushups and reap the benefits!
