Wylie's National Night Out Celebration Is Oct. 2

Wylie Police will once again hold National Night Out, an event dedicated to developing and promoting crime prevention programs in which citizen watch groups partner with law enforcement officials for safer neighborhoods.

Olde City Park, 112 N. Ballard Ave., in historic downtown Wylie will be the site of the event, which will be Tuesday, Oct. 2, from 5:30 to 8 p.m.

This year's festivities include public safety displays and activities, free hot dogs, drinks, cotton candy, popcorn and snow cones, bounce houses, pony rides, face painting, Wylie FFA petting zoo, and a brief fireworks finale at evening's end.

"The members of Wylie PD would like to encourage everyone to come out to Olde City Park and join us for this celebration of our community and the unique partnership we enjoy with our citizens," said Chief Anthony Henderson. "We understand that we cannot successfully do our jobs without building those relationships with the people we serve. The more united we stand, the more firmly we say 'no' to crime, and the safer our neighborhoods become."
