Wylie's next X-Treme Green is March 2.

The City of Wylie and Community Waste Disposal are hosting X-Treme Green Saturday, March 2, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Household hazardous waste, electronics, household metal appliances and automotive tires will be collected at the Public Works Building, 949 Hensley Ln., Wylie.

Document shredding will also be offered. Brush and bulk items will not be accepted.

Household hazardous waste includes aerosols, cylinders, pesticides and herbicides, flammables, oil base and latex paint, gasoline, antifreeze, lead acid batteries, RCRA empty, corrosives (acids, bases), oxidizers, organic peroxides and compounds, lighting ballast, MNiMH and NiCAD batteries, lithium and Li-ion batteries and non-hazardous solids, such as caulk and joint compound.

Accepted electronics include computers (laptops, microcomputers, desktops and minicomputers), routers, keyboards, cable TV boxes, media storage devices, flatbed scanners, CD ROM drives, satellite TV equipment, telephones (cellular, cordless, wireless), computer disk drives, and TVs (CRT, LCD, plasma, flat screen).

Household metal appliances that will be accepted include refrigerators, freezers, washers, dryers, microwaves, stoves and ovens (maximum three). Freon must be removed from refrigerators and the unit tagged "Freon removed by a trained professional."

A maximum of five passenger, SUV, ATV, light duty truck, or lawnmower tires will be accepted.

Documents, such as bank statements, old bills, and other confidential information may be brought for shredding.

X-Treme Green is a service for Wylie residents only, defined as those who live in the Wylie city limits and pay City of Wylie property tax. Residents are asked to bring their most recent City of Wylie utility bill (water, trash collection and/or sewer), which will be reviewed by staff at the event, along with a valid driver's license or other government-issued ID.
