Wylie Police Department announces a Summer Safety Event and Pancakes with Police, which promises to be bigger and better than the previously planned pancakes fundraiser that had to be rescheduled due to hail damage. The new expo will be June 11, 9 am to noon, at First Baptist Wylie Event Center, 200 N. Ballard, inside and in the back parking lot.
Cash donations for a pancake breakfast will benefit the family of Jeremiah Hart, the 9-year-old Wylie student who was injured by a vehicle at Firewheel Town Center last November.
Wylie PD will have helmet and bike safety information, and Wylie Fire Rescue will offer fire and water safety info. Wylie Animal Control will have info about summer pet safety. Sign up for the Smith Library Summer Reading Club at the library’s booth. Park and Recreation staff will have Activity Menus with all the great summer courses and camps, and they’ll lead some games with prizes for the winners. Municipal Court staff will be signing teenagers up for Teen Court. There will also be a bounce house and face painting.
