Wylie's Smith Public Library is scaring up some Halloween activities and celebrations for kids and adults.

The Friends of Smith Library Costume Contest fundraiser will be from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 24. The $1 entry fee per person goes to benefit the library. Judging for the contest starts at 6 p.m. with the infants, toddlers and big kids categories. Judging for tweens/teens and adults is at 6:30 p.m. Prizes will be awarded for each of the five groups.

The Big Pumpkin Puppet Show will be presented (instead of Family Story Time) at 5:30, 5:50, 6:10 and 6:30 p.m. Admission to the puppet show is free, but tickets must be picked up at the children's desk beginning at 4:30 p.m. on the day of the event.

Kids are invited to trick-or-treat at the reference desks, and there will be a Halloween-themed scavenger hunt between 5:30 and 7 p.m.
