Wylie's Smith Library presents "I Want to Write a Novel. Now What?", a seminar for aspiring authors, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 22. The workshop is for age 18 and up.

Author Rebecca Adler will discuss the first steps, including developing story ideas, genres and subgenres, identifying writing styles, creating plot structure, understanding the use of "muscular" verbs, and editing.

Adler is a former president of North Texas Romance Writers and is a member of Sisters in Crime and Texas Romance Writers. She writes the "Taste of Texas" cozy culinary mysteries, which include Tex-Mex recipes, set in far West Texas. Adler also writes contemporary romance novels under the name Gina Lee Nelson.

The workshop is free; register at Smith Library is part of the Wylie Municipal Complex, 300 Country Club Rd., Bldg. 300, Wylie. For more information, call 972-516-6250, option 3.
